Ilgakasė Elektrenai 2011'Ilgakasė' is the title of long hair contests held in Lithuania. This annual contest is in Elektrenai, a little village between the capital Vilnius and Kaunas, the second city of Lithuania. The contest is held in the cultural centre of the town...

11 Girls from Elektrenai and surrounding villages participated in this contest. None of the girls had extremely long hair, but the show was quite amusing. Like other long hair shows in Lithuania, the program was pretty traditional with measuring the girls' hair and showing their skills on subjects like singing, playing an instrument, photography or telling a story. At the end, the girls received awards for different categories like 'the most beautiful hairstyle', 'the thickest hair' or 'the most elegant hair' etc. Unlike other shows, there weren't any endless speeches, and some performances of the dance and vocal groups were surpricingly good and others were, well...they need some practice...

Ilgaplaukių Konkursą - 2011 The premiere of the most expensive animated movie 'Tangled' was a good motivation for girls and women in Lithuania not to cut their hair but to compare their tresses with other real-life rapunzels.

In Lithuania, modelling agency 'Mažasis modelis' organized a long hair competition in a cinema located in the capital Vilnius. 80 rapunzels from all ages came together. A traditional contest with activities like photo shootings, hair measuring, a consult of professional hair dressers and an award ceremony. Winner was Aistė Lebedeva (photo) with a hair length of 1.40m! She was also the winner of the last Ilgakasė contest in Ukmergė.

Girl's Beauty - Long Braid 2010The Rapunzel beauty contest 'Рапунцель: девичья краса – длинная коса' (or in English: Rapunzel: girls' beauty - long braid') took place in a movie theater in Krasnodar, Russia.

50 girls, aged 6 to 16 participated in this contest, organized by the Aurora theater, timed to coincide with the premiere of the animated movie 'Tangled'. Participants demonstrated their pride, long beautiful hair, as well as their creative talents, from poetry to sports and ballroom dancing. The event was attended by about 1500 people. All participants received prizes and the jury chose the winners in each age group, presenting them with certificates and gifts...

Ural Beauty - Long Braid 2010This 'Ural beauty - long braid' competition, or in Russian: 'Уральская краса - длинная коса' was the first show of an annual event that took place in Ekaterinburg on the Day of Russia (12 June) in one of the large shopping malls.

The purpose of this show is to support the girls, preserving their long hair, despite of all the tricks of time and fashion. After all, a girl with long hair closely matches the national ideal of Russian beauty and embodies the goodness and love, the preservation of the family hearth, attractive for its romance and humility...

The winners were determined in several categories. The title of 'the longest braid" was Екатерина Шилякина, measuring 1,70m! In the nomination 'The thickest plait', the winner was Irina Adeeva, thickness of her braid: 12.5 centimeters. 'Little Princess' title went to Christina Abramov, the owner of a 1,07m long braid, and the award for 'Symbol of Russian beauty' went to Старцева Ярослава with hair length: 1,25m.

Other titles were:
'Little beauty' (junior age category) - Ирина Лунева (hair length: 92 cm), 'The young beauty - long braid' (middle age group) - Лариса Хачтрян (hair length: 1,05m) and 'Wise beauty - long braid' (senior group) - Олеся Казначеева (hair length - 1,05m).

The main winner of the contest was the 29-year-old Котляревская Дарья, a lawyer and mother of three. As a prize, she received a ticket to Turkey.

Ilgakasė Ukmergė 2010Ilgakasė' is the title of long hair contests held in Lithuania. This contest was in Ukmergė, a little town north of the capital Vilnius. The contest is situated in a little theater.

11 girls and 1 older woman where jugded by perfomance skillls and of course their hair length. The program was filled with the traditional hair measuring, presenting themselves in Lithuanian clothing, performing their skills and the last part: the avant gardistic hairstyling show with matching clothes. One girl was wrapped in a dress made from newspapers, while another girl was wearing something that could be best described as a giant clamboo. This year's winner was 22 year old Ais­tę Le­be­de­vą with hair measuring 1,27m and she won a mountain bike.
